Well, I just finished plowing through Metal Gear Solid 2.

I found it both incredible, and a little disatisfying (which sounds like a common reaction). I enjoyed the bizarre twists & turns in the story, and the visual quality was just incredible, but GEEZUS MAN, do you have to have so much god... damned... exposition?

Still, this game fundamentally rocks, even if it does have a few irritating play sequences (ah, if only you could actually move around in first person mode...). And the visuals are among the most amazing I've ever seen. I highly recommend checking it out.  4:21:46 PM  (comments []

Speaking of the GURPS character that Radio stole me away from, I ended up finding and using GURPS Character Sheet from roleplayer.com. It's a Carbonized app, and works pretty darn swell. It seems to have most all of the various advantages, disads, and skills, and makes it pretty darn easy to drag them in and see how many points things cost. Check it out!  12:36:52 AM  (comments []

This has been my weekend for fundamentally changing what technology I use. First, I switched to Radio for my weblog, which I'll be buying for the upstreaming feature alone. (I haven't even started to play with the CMS and site rendering features, which also look very cool.)

Then, I finally ditched my Hotmail account. I've been forwarding my ology.org e-mail address to Hotmail so that I could check my e-mail from my phone. However, the spam level on Hotmail -- not to mention the irritation of having to actually use a web browser in order to check it (at least, on the Mac) -- has driven me off of it. I barely use the web phone to check my mail, and I've discovered (after turning off the forwarding) that 75% of the spam I get was going directly to my (unpublished) hotmail address. Hmmm.

(I switched to an IMAP account and the standard OS X Mail client, btw, since I already use it for my work e-mail account.)

Finally, I've switched back to using OmniWeb for browsing the web. They've got the 4.1 public beta up now, and it seems to have an acceptable level of Javascript support compared to 4.0. (It handles the new Hotmail design, for one thing.) I've always preferred the visual look of OmniWeb (with support for the Quartz text anti-aliasing), but compatability had driven me away. The 4.1 beta looks pretty promising, so I'm pretty pumped :).

I think Userland and the OmniGroup can both look forward to getting some cash from me in the near future...  12:27:31 AM  (comments []

Holy Shit! Apparently the earth only barely missed an impact with a Big Fucking Rock on Monday.  12:17:55 AM  (comments []
