I just finished watching the second half of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the mini-miniseries of Star Wars cartoons that take place between Episode II and Episode III. They're brought to us by the folks who brought us Samurai Jack, and they're incredible. Embarassingly incredible, really -- all told, it's about 90 minutes of content that are superior in almost every way to the actual new trilogy. It's fast paced, has incredible action and old-school movie serial style cliffhangers. Plus that whole Samurai Jack vibe combined with lightsabers. What's not to love?  5:27:44 PM  (comments []

Firewire drive search update: several folks have pointed out that you can get enclosures for both 2.5" and 3.5" drives, and I'll probably swing by Fry's again today to check out the options. I do in fact already have a 3.5" enclosure, although it's too large to be portable needs to be plugged into the wall (although I'm assured that since I bought this, there are now 3.5" enclosures which aren't quite so -- emplaced). That thing "only" has an 80G drive in it, so I may end up upgrading that to something stupidly large like 250GB.

Psu also points out the OWC Mercury FireWire On-The-Go line, which seem to be competively priced with the other options I listed, but actually include Dantz Retrospect for backing up and restoring. (Which, as far as I can tell, would otherwise cost $100.) Also, I like how they actually list the drive RPM, and the mysteriously promising "Shock Isolation System."

Thanks all!  11:58:23 AM  (comments []
